Drug and Alcohol Recovery and Education (DARE) was founded in 2000 by a Canadian addiction recovery specialist and local ethnic leaders after witnessing the social destruction caused by orchestrated drug and alcohol dependence within ethnic minorities in Myanmar. DARE programme holds addiction education workshops, aims to give culturally appropriate treatment, and recruits addiction worker trainees and village coordinators in 20 villages in Hpa An District, Kayin State, Myanmar.
